Bio

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Wei Zhou’s lab at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the Broad Institute.

My research interests center on understanding the genetic basis of complex traits and translating those insights into biological discovery and more informative risk prediction. I develop statistical and computational methods for rare variant analysis, genetic association studies, and polygenic risk prediction using large biobank datasets. I am also interested in single-cell genomics, particularly how genetic effects vary across cellular contexts. Alongside this work, I study statistical questions in machine learning and model evaluation. Looking ahead, I aim to integrate AI with statistical genetics to connect genetic signals to disease mechanisms.

My background spans mathematics, finance, and data science. At KAIST, I earned a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences followed by an M.S. in Management Engineering (Finance track).

Before my doctoral studies, I worked at Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service, ultimately as a Senior Manager. This experience broadened my background in financial regulation and data analysis, including asset management and derivatives.

I completed my Ph.D. in Data Science at Seoul National University under the supervision of Dr. Seunggeun (Shawn) Lee, and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Lee Lab. During my Ph.D., I was also a Visiting Research Scholar in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan, mentored by Dr. Bhramar Mukherjee.
